Financial Inclusion
Fund
The
Government’s Financial Inclusion Taskforce provided £45 million of
funding to enable a step change in the availability of face-to-face
debt advice to financially excluded clients. The DTI selected
ten Citizens Advice led projects to receive funding. Citizens
Advice is
the principle
contract holder responsible for the delivery of the contract to
BERR formerly the DTI.
In Hull, we
have funding for eight caseworkers – caseworkers have undergone
generalist and intensive debt training provided by the Money Advice
Trust dealing with issues such as rent and mortgage arrears,
bankruptcy, IVAs, administration orders, magistrates court action,
council tax arrears and strategies in dealing with
debt.
The FIF
project is rolling out outreaches and partnership working across
the city, targeting debt advice to specific
disadvantaged
social groups
and areas. |
